The dress, which retails for £399 ($636) had flown off the shelves by Wednesday at stockists Harvey Nichols and the upmarket London boutique, Matches.

Demand for blue dresses, especially those by Issa, was also up in UK’s Fenwick department stores, according to a spokesperson.

With its forgiving “fit ‘n’ flare” style coupled with a body skimming – but not too clingy – silk jersey and judiciously placed ruching, the dress successfully hides a multitude of sins, making its appeal universal.
